Getting licensed in Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania life insurance license is required to sell. The licensing course and exam are administered through Pennsylvania Insurance Department. As of our last check, Pennsylvania does not require pre-licensing coursework — you can go straight to the state exam. Pennsylvania eliminated its pre-licensing requirement for residents in April 2025.
