Getting licensed in Pennsylvania
Licensing comes first: Pennsylvania requires a life insurance producer license, handled through Pennsylvania Insurance Department. As of our last check, Pennsylvania does not require pre-licensing coursework — you can go straight to the state exam. Pennsylvania eliminated its pre-licensing requirement for residents in April 2025.
